How did the Richfield Art Studio begin?...it evolved over a lifetime

At age six, I knew that I wanted to be a high school art teacher. My parents support the arts and filled our childhood with rich cultural experiences. We spent hot summer nights enjoying the Ohio Ballet, touring museums throughout the country returning to the Cleveland Museum of art regularly, and attending the theater often. My dream of teaching art was accepted and encouraged. My high school art teacher, Mrs. Sandra Nedoh recognized this passion and provided a teaching opportunity with the Medina County Enrichment Center. At age 16, I began working as an art teacher for gifted and talented students in the second and third grade. These enthusiastic students proved to be fabulous teachers that have made a lasting impression. I graduated HS and completed my undergraduate degree at The University of Akron in both Art Education and Ceramics. I met my husband, ice carver, Aaron Costic while in college. Aaron introduced me to world travel and invited me to join him on a trip to Jamaica early on in our relationship. We traveled to Jamaica many times. Here, I befriended a fabric artist and teacher, Tookula Natamara. Tookula created her own art school in the hills of the Blue Mountains. Her school  provides the Jamaican community with a source of art education. Tookula's friendship, art, and school is the inspiration for The Richfield Art Studio.
