CLAY CLASSES

Bats, Rams, & Cheesecakes! An ALL Potter's Wheel Class

Art Instructor, Sarah Costic

Tuition, $125

Mondays, 10:00 AM - Noon & 6:30 - 8:30 PM

January 9, 16, 23, 30

February 6, 13, 20, 27

New to the wheel? We will guide you through the basics of turning clay on the potter's wheel. New students will turn & glaze up to five  bowls as their introduction to the wheel. Careful not to proceed to quickly through each stage of turning clay, we isolate each step & have our students repeat each step several times before moving forward in the process.

"Turning is a skill that we all can learn. Like most skills we gain mastery through repetition & practice. I prefer to work at a slow & relaxed pace so that each of my students have an opportunity to practice this new skill. Laughter is an important part of my instruction. We learn best when we are having fun! Laughter relaxes our bodies and our muscles will retain the memory of each step more efficiently. Often our Potter's Studio fills with laughter as we learn the process of turning clay." Sarah Costic

Upon completion of this course you will have gained a good understanding of the process of turning clay & the science behind how the wheel works. You are welcome to repeat this course as many times as you wish. We will encourage you to try new forms, to work with more clay, & to try out different clay bodies as you progress in your wheel studies. In time, you will be ready to work independently & to create your home Potter's Studio or to become a Studio Member.

Our Potter's Studio is located creek side, in our newly tiled studio. The doors are left open to allow for the cool night air and the moonshine to fill the space for our evening pottery sessions.
